Meet the Production-Ready Model S Shooting Brake
In the Netherlands lives a shooting brake enthusiasts called Floris de Raadt. Not only is he the proud owner of a Lynx Eventer, but he was also one of the first importers of electric cars in the Netherlands, starting in 2009.
This time around, Floris got inspired by a Tesla-based hearse built by Amsterdam-based RemetzCar. So, the task of designing the perfect Tesla shooting brake soon landed on Niels van Roij’s desk in London. Needless to say, Mr. de Raadt is hugely impressed by the results of this colleboration:
“The idea was to translate my Tesla Model S into a dynamic and sporty yet elegant Shooting Brake, rather than creating a car with maximum luggage space. Niels van Roij Design developed several options for the conversion, focusing on premium design combined with limited conversion costs: thus making coach building available for a larger group of connoisseurs. Our favorite was the option called ‘Bold Chrome’, featuring remarkable high gloss chrome window trims emphasizing the bold dynamic lines of the car. The result is truly stunning!”
The great thing about this Model S conversion is that the full structure of the car remains intact, including the crumple zones. RemetzCar developed a new tailgate featuring a rear spoiler with a hidden rear window wiper and brake light. Van Roij also added a chrome trim that runs from the A-pillars all the way along the roofline and around the panoramic roof. Last but not least, the team developed a unique color, based on De Raadt’s wishes. It’s a green metallic with a twist of gold.
If you like what you see, have no fear. A series of 20 units is planned, with the car debuting at the International Concours d’Élégance Paleis Het Loo, held from 29 June to 1 July 2018 in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands.
